Introduction

Ship station means a station located on board a vessel, other than a survival craft, which is not permanently moored.

Ship Call Sign

A combination of:

  • two characters and two letters, or
  • two characters, two letters and one digit (other than the digits 0 or 1), or
  • two characters (provided that the second is a letter) followed by four digits (other than the digits 0 or 1 in cases where they immediately follow a letter), or
  • two characters and one letter followed by four digits (other than the digits 0 or 1 in cases where they immediately follow a letter). (WRC-07)

Applicant will be assigned a call sign by Jabatan Laut Malaysia upon registration of vessel.

Notes:
L1L2 may represent any letter A to Z
D1 may represent 2 to 9
D2D3D4 may represent 0 to 9

Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) number

  • MMSI is a nine-digit number assignment to uniquely identify station in the maritime mobile service. For ship station, the MMSI comprises of a three (3) digit country of registration identifier (MID) followed by six (6) digit ship identity. 
  • MMSI will be issued by MCMC with the issuance of AA certificate for the ship station. The MMSI format for Malaysian registered ship station is as follows:
